HOW DOES THE GAME LIVE UP TO IT'S EXPLANATION/BOX ART? (1/10)

The cover of this game looks awesome, there really isn't any screen shots on the back, and the explanation leaves a lot to the imagination. But it's a release by SquareEnix so it's probably a sweet japanese turn based RPG right?
The artwork and opening were compelling. The story seems solid. Then WHAM! it's a platform style western RPG. I'm playing a janky Devil May Cry release that doesn't control very well, and I don't know what's going on really but i'm leveling really fast.
But i am the character on the cover after you beat these weird looking monsters.

HOW IS THE GAME PLAY? (4/10)

Well it wasn't what I expected and I'll be honest when I say I only played this for about thirty minutes after I beat the opening of the game.
Your character, Nier, for some reason runs constantly like someone is chasing him. He jumps like I would imagine someone that was 7 days long on meth would, and his double jump makes him look like he's trying to dry hump an invisible something beast that's 9 feet tall.
I'm terrible at reading maps, but not when it's on the screen the whole time like in the Grand Theft Auto games, but the map just wasn't helping me get anywhere at all. So i ran around the map with no clue what i was supposed to do and just gave up.

HOW DOES THE GAME LIVE UP TO IT'S GENRE? (5/10)

Well it's a free roam western Rpg / action title. As far as I could tell it played well for the most part but the attack scheme was more like a last gen title. Nothing new here in the way of attack system. Same old dynasty warrior/devil may cry combo system, and a bunch of random tasks to complete for people around town.
Same old Same old.

THE 'GAME OVER' ALL? (33%)

Well being as I turned it off and returned it after about an hour of play. I can say that I had no preference for this at all.
