Battle Fantasia

Price = $ 10.00
Players = 1-2

HOW DOES THE GAME LIVE UP TO IT'S EXPLANATION/BOX ART? (6/10)

FIGHTER SPLASH ART! This is another 2D fighter from the makers of Guilty Gear.

The back of the box is kind of confusing because it's one of those, 'we put different languages all over the box underneath the english. The text format the decided to use clashes with the color of the box. It's not a pretty but it does tell you what's going on if you squint your eyes to read it.

12 characters with 12 different story lines!

HOW IS THE GAME PLAY? (9/10)

Again, jumping directly into a fighting game can be very difficult if you aren't good at quarter roles and guessing the usual ways moves are pulled off. So if you haven't ever played a fighter before, always go into training mode before you start the game.

Battle Fantasia plays very well. It's fluent style mixed with it's interesting art style is really a sight to see.

They changed up the usual form of the life bar in this one though. It's still there so you can see how much life you have, but they have incorporated the RPG element of hit points. Where if you hit someone you see how much damage you are actually doing. Which is pretty awesome when you want to know which moves are your stronger allies.

But, beating the boss of this game and learning the curves of counters is a little bit difficult to grasp.

HOW DOES THE GAME LIVE UP TO IT'S GENRE? (10/10)

If you are a lover of fighting games this is an excellent buy. It's not very expensive, doesn't have much online play anymore, and it's a little on the rare side of the market, but it fits the 2D fighting game world to the T.

THE 'GAME OVER' ALL? (83%)

I haven't sat down and beat all the story lines yet, because the final boss of this game is a destruction monster. But, so far every bit of the game i've played i have enjoyed. I love the characters and how the story progresses.

If you haven't ever got into fighting games and think you'd like to. This is a good place to start since it's a low cost and it's easy to learn. (other than the counters, you'll need to hit up training mode to get those down)

arbitrary credit for gore and nudity = .05
